The Autauga Northern Railroad (AUT) began operations as Watco's third Alabama short line in April of 2011 but originally got its start as the Gulf Mobile and Ohio Railroad (GM&O).  The GM&O was sold off and with the AUT operations, Watco now operates two segments (Alabama Southern Railroad and AUT) of the former GM&O.

Today paper products are the primary commodity shipped on the 44 mile short line which runs from Maplesville to Autauga Creek.  The AUT interchanges with the Norfolk Southern at Maplesville, Ala.

In addition to freight rail service, Watco also provides switching services at Prattville to International Paper, the largest Customer on the line.
