Located on 640 acres in the heart of the Houston ship channel in Harris County, Texas, the Greens Port Industrial Park offers a multitude of services including warehousing, lay down storage, leasing of industrial property, access to deep water dock and barge, contract stevedoring, rail and truck transportation. More than 4,000 linear feet of frontage to the Houston ship channel is available, including a 1,080 linear foot, deep water dock capable of serving some of the world’s largest ocean going vessels and a separate barge terminal. Greens Port also currently provides 2,325,443 square feet of industrial buildings, many equipped with industrial strength cranes and served by more than 20 miles of rail infrastructure with direct access to dock and barge transportation. Additionally, the park includes four rail yards capable of storing up to 1,200 railcars. Greens Port is served by the Union Pacific as well as the Port Terminal Railroads, and offers easy access to major thoroughfares serving the Houston area via its proximity to Interstate 10 and Highway 225. Formerly owned by AK Steel, the facility closed in the early 1980’s and began converting portions of the facility into a multimodal industrial park. Watco Companies, Inc. has conducted contract switching services to multiple businesses in the Greens Port Industrial Park since 1998. Since this date, Watco has had a strong interest in acquiring the facility. In 2004, that acquisition occurred. The creation of Greens Port Ship/Channel Partners, L.P., consisting of two partners with expertise in transportation and Commercial Real Estate, acquired the Greens Port Industrial Park.
