The Baton Rouge Southern Railroad (BRS) began operations November 28, 2008. The BRS consists of 1.5 miles of track primarily utilized by a local industry for their plastic and chemical divisions. Cars are stored on the BRS and supplied to the Kansas City Southern Railway. There are four industries located on the railroad shipping commodities: bauxite, plastic pellets, raw coke and calcinated coke. Proximity to the Port of Allen, along with the continued hard work and ingenuity of its team members makes this location a prime candidate for growth.
