The Grand Elk Railroad (GDLK) began operations on March 8, 2009 as Watco’s first railroad to operate in the states of Michigan and Indiana. The GDLK covers 143 miles running from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Elkhart, Indiana. The line is leased from Norfolk Southern. Four short lines also interchange with the GDLK: the Marquette Railroad, Mid-Michigan Railroad, the Michigan Southern and the Grand Rapids Eastern Railroad. Serving more than 55 Customers in Michigan and Indiana, the GDLK will help the area’s economy by providing freight service to Customers at various locations. Commodities shipped on the GDLK include automotive parts, plastics, metals, forest products, agricultural products and aggregates.
