The Louisiana Southern Railroad (LAS) began operations September 25, 2005. Watco Companies acquired the railroad from the Kansas City Southern through a lease agreement. The LAS consists of 188 miles of track. The northern branch runs from Shreveport to Sibley, then north to Springhill, Louisiana. Additionally, the southern branch runs from Gibsland to Pineville Junction, Louisiana. The LAS interchanges with the KCS at Gibsland, Sibley and Pineville, Louisiana.
